While the stronger and faster 2-liter option is plenty efficient on the streets, Kia’s 1.6-liter base model excels in ensuring gas station visits are a thing of the past. With a highway rating of 40mpg and 33mpg combined, the Forte is a strong contender in the fuel economy world. The GT trim on the other hand holds up at about 30mpg for combined. In a 200-mile highway fuel-economy test, the 2019 Forte registered 41 mpg, coming out just above the EPA rating.
Safety & Driver Assistance
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2021 Kia Forte 4 out of 5 stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) also named it a Top Safety Pick+ for 2021. While many car brands don’t offer newer, modern safety features with the base model, Kia offers a list of features. These features include standard-forward collision with automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assistance, and adaptable cruise control.
