The car commercials for the Super Bowl are always abundant, and above par. This year was no exception. From Hera and Zeus to Nick Jonas, to Dr. Evil from Austin Powers, car companies were really grasping for some kind of universal connection. By far, we think this year’s Super Bowl commercial from Kia was the best, being full of surprises including, the release of a brand-new model that holds the Guinness world record title for the shortest charging time to cross the US in an electric vehicle. The Kia Super Bowl commercial is one that tells a heartwarming story about Robo Dog sitting in a shop with a $200 price tag on him. He is staring out the window longingly at a guy with his golden retriever (Subaru golden retriever shade if we ever saw some). The rest of the commercial is a view of Robo Dog going on this grand adventure yet seemingly wild goose chase, jumping across buildings, crashing through boxes, and running through traffic, just for his battery to die when he is about to meet his new owner.
(Spoiler alert) The next scene is one of Robo Dog opening his eyes and being embraced by his new owner with a Kia EV6, every dog’s dream. The commercial ends with Robo Dog hanging his head out the window with the final message being: Live Fully Charged. Thus, creating the perfect equation of Kia EV6 + Robo Dog = living life fully charged. How fitting and positive for the new year.
