The North American largest mid-size SUV, the Kia Telluride is getting a facelift for 2023. It made its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show alongside the Hyundai Palisade. With a sleek and smooth new redesign, the 2023 Kia Telluride is one for the books. 2023 Kia Telluride Overview

A styling refresh isn’t the only thing that’s boosting the Telluride’s popularity. An on-board Wifi hotspot along with an integrated all-new navigation system matches the overall energy that the 2023 Telluride gives off. That energy being a mixture of rugged luxuriousness. One last thing that is worth noting is that it has the capabilities of towing 5,500 pounds!

Kia Telluride 2023 Design

The overall design of the Kia Telluride 2023 design is modest with advanced technology features as well as two new available trims, the X-Line and the X-Pro, but we’ll talk more about that later. This fresh redesign has notes from well known luxury vehicles like the Mercedes Benz GLS-class and it definitely has heads turning–you can’t help but stare!

Interior

A redesigned dashboard accommodates the upgraded massive screen to match the steering wheel. Buyers are also able to opt for a full mirror digital display that connects to Home Link, a power liftgate that comes with an “Auto Close” feature. Through Kia Connect, Kia Telluride owners will be able to lock and unlock their vehicle via smartphone or smartwatch. Now that’s what we call convenient!

Exterior

The exterior design of the 2023 Telluride remains mostly the same as last year’s model, with the exception of vertical headlights with LED bulbs as well as available fog lamps. It also got an upgrade in tail lights, a new grille, a rear facia rework, new bumpers, new wheel designs for every trim, and a revised lower door takes the cake. The exterior comes in 3 beautiful colors which are Midnight Lake Blue, Dawning Red, and Jungle Wood Green. We’ll take one each please!

2023 Telluride Performance

While the powertrains are being carried over from previous years, the 3.8-liter V6 GDI engine is still impressive. It puts out a whopping 291 horsepower, and 262 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel-drive is an option that’s available on all models except the two new trims, in which case, those trims come standard, otherwise you’re looking at having an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Technology and safety features

The 2023 Kia Telluride gets the auto brand’s latest dual 12.3-inch display screens sitting at the center of the gauge cluster and infotainment system (which is also an optional feature). The Kia Connect feature also introduces navigational features that include real-time and predicted road information so that you’re aware of unexpected road closures, wrecks, etc. The Telluride received a few new safety feature upgrades including forward collision avoidance-junction turning which is standard for all models. The safety features that are at play in the Telluride aim to prevent accidents by providing max awareness and visibility.

Price and trims

The 2023 Kia Telluride Price starts at $37,025 and the prices go up from there. The two new trims are the X-Line, starting at $46,820, and the X-Pro, starting at $51,220, which add a spiciness to the Telluride. They each get their own grille design, bridge-type roof rails, X-Line or X-Pro badging and exclusive 18-20 inch black wheels. These trims also come with special color packages. 2023 Kia Niro EV Overview

The 2023 Kia Niro EV is THE vehicle for those who are environmentally conscious, that’s based on the Kia K3’s design, offering a futuristic experience.

There’s no better time than now to switch over to a more green means of transportation. The 2023 Kia Niro EV delivers an astounding EPA-estimated 253-mile all-electric range so drivers won’t have to worry about charging up on a longer drive. Additionally when this sustainable crossover is powered by its all-electric powertrain, it doesn’t produce any emissions at all. To top all of this off, the Nero EV’s performance is certainly well-above its competitors and its price tag is well below!

Exterior and Price

Based on Kia’s K3 architecture, the Niro has been given a futuristic two-box design, accompanied by its distinguishable D-pillar which will be available in an array of contrasting colors. It is also slightly longer than other comparable electric crossovers, at 174.0 inches and slighting shorter, at 61.8 inches.

The Niro EV will have two different trim levels to choose from, the more affordable base Wind trim level, and the more expensive loaded Wave version. It is estimated that these trims will range from $33,000 to $40,000 which makes the Niro EV appear extremely inexpensive compared to other small, electric crossovers in its class.

Engine and Handle

Both versions of the 2023 Niro EV will receive the same 201-hp electric motor coupled with 188 lb-ft of torque. That being said, its acceleration isn’t lacking by any means. Car and Driver took the Niro for a test drive where they reached 60 mph in an impressive 6.7 seconds. Of course it’s no sports car, but as for 0-60 EV standards, the Niro is doing just fine.

Whether you’re in normal, sport, or eco mode the Niro EV handles beautifully as well. You can feel confident cutting corners, fitting into tight parking spaces, and cruising down winding roads. When it comes to braking, the Niro goes from 70-0 in just 182 feet. With this feature, drivers can feel rest assured about this crossovers braking capability. Much of the Niro EV’s fantastic handling can be accredited to its low center of gravity. The Niro EV never fails to provide drivers with a pleasant experience.

The Charge and Range

Although the extensive all-electric range feels as if it lasts forever, you’ll eventually have to plug in your Niro EV to recharge. After drivers have surpassed the EPA estimated 253-mile all-electric range, they can rely on Level 2 hookups. Kia has promised that you can take this sleek crossover from 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes by plugging it into a DC fast-charger. As a bonus, Kia is providing 500 kWh of zero-cost charging through Electrify America that provides nearly 2,000 free miles.

Interior and Tech

The 2023 Niro EV takes sustainability to the next level. The incorporation of a headliner that’s made from recycled wallpaper and seats with fabric partially constructed from eucalyptus make this vehicle unique. Additionally, besides the Niro’s eco-friendly interior design, drivers and front-seat passengers will appreciate the massive, spacious cabin. Don’t worry backseat riders, there is plenty of headroom and legroom to kick back and relax on a long drive.

The Niro EV also has all the tech anyone could ask for, and more! Once behind the wheel, drivers will notice a large digital panel with three different gauge looks paired with drive modes. The well-known auto brand, Kia, revealed the 2023 Kia EV6 GT performance crossover for the first time at a Motorsports Gathering, The Quail, and boy was it shocking–in a good way! Kia vehicles are not typically sought after for their speed, but the mere presence of the 2023 EV6 took the center of attention with 576-hp, being the fastest and most sophisticated among all the players. The arrival of the 2023 Kia EV6 is becoming known as the most powerful Kia production yet. This marks a new era for the Kia electrification brand. Talk about having an element of surprise! 2023 Kia EV6 in a Nutshell

The 2023 Kia EV6 is part of Kia’s “Plan S” strategy which launches at least 2 battery-electric vehicles (BEV) per year. The “Plan S” strategy is also to build a full line-up of 14 BEV’s by 2027. The 2023 Kia EV6 showcases the multi-charging system that supports 400v and 800v charging, working on DC chargers with speeds between 50kW to 350kW. The innovative functionality makes the EV6 a power house on wheels, supporting everything from home improvement projects to camping and tailgating. Its electricity flows from the high-energy battery to an Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) which provides a whopping 1,900 watts of power to the electric appliances, devices, tools, and recreational equipment. Need we say more?

2023 Kia EV6 Design

The exterior of the 2023 Kia EV6 has subtle interior and exterior features that flourish. An emphasis on the vehicle’s width, and a rear aero spoiler is unique to this model. The styling and design of the 2023 EV6 is a worldwide collaboration. This collaboration was inspired by a design philosophy, “Opposites United”. This philosophy fuses cues and inspiration from contrasts that you can find in everyday life. A long-wheelbase and short overhangs is what maximizes the interior space with a flat floor. Under the floor, a battery placement enables a low center of gravity for ultimate stability. Premium EV6 touches are all throughout the cabin. This includes neon accents, front lightweight bucket seats, and a striped motif that’s on the upper dashboard and on the front center armrest. Ambient lighting is also featured across the door panels, center console, and dashboard which delivers a soothing glow.

New Levels of Electric Performance

The already potent EV6 lineup raises the threshold of performance even further with the 2023 EV6. It has a dual-motor e-AWD powertrain that sends power to all four wheels. It also has an energy-dense 77.4-kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (80/10/10) battery that serves a front-mounted 160kW motor. It’s combined with a rear-mounted 270kW motor that produces a power output of 430 kW (576hp) and 546lb.-ft. of torque. The 2023 Kia EV6 can also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds with top speeds rising to 161 mpg.

To put it more into perspective for you, the 2023 Kia EV6 out-accelerated a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD. The performance upgrades also include defining dedicated sport suspension with electronically controlled dampers and unique front suspension components. Its traction and stability are enhanced by electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) when turning those corners. This is possible by directing torque to the wheels that have the most grip.

The 2022 Kia Forte Legacy

The evolution of the Kia Forte design has taken flight in an unprecedented way just over the course of the last few years. Beginning in 2019, Kia introduced an entirely new design to the interior and exterior of its beloved Forte, giving it a more sleek look while simultaneously adding more cargo and back-row seating space. Furthermore, Kia also decided to upgrade the technology of the 2019 Kia Forte model cars with the addition of more driver-assistance features and a touch-screen infotainment system. Moving into 2020, Kia introduced the GT and GT-lined trims of their Forte, and the 2022 Kia Forte received an overhaul to the exterior once again while adding even more advanced tech.

2023 Kia Forte Trims

As for the 2023 Forte model cars, you can count on all of the features we love about the previous models, along with some major advances to the trim lineup. The Forte will come with five trim options, including the introduction of the GT Manual along with a change of name for the entry level FE, now known as the LX model. So, with these changes, you will now be able to choose from the LX, LXS, GT-Line, GT or GT Manual trims.

Kia Forte GT Mechanics

There will continue to be the same top of the line mechanics in the 2023 Forte models. All of the trims will come with front-wheel drive. However, the LX, LXS, and GT-Line trims, they will have a 147-horsepower four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The GT model will have a 201-horsepower turbo-four and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The GT Manual will have the same turbo-four paired with a six speed manual.

2023 Kia Forte Interior

The 2023 Kia Forte’s interior has been praised for its luxurious look and feel. You can expect to see some improvement in the quality of the interior across all trims. The LX will come with cloth upholstery and it will have an option to add auto-dimming rearview mirror and a universal garage door opener for a small additional charge. While the LXS will gain split-folding rear seating and soft-touch interior surfaces. As for the GT-Line, it will have sports seating accompanied by synthetic leather inserts and a leather steering wheel. The GT trim will have the option to add full synthetic upholstery. In the GT Manual you can find the same synthetic upholstery as well. Across all trims, you can expect a very spacious and high-quality cabin along with a large trunk. This compact car is undoubtedly big enough to fit the whole family!

Technology

The 2023 Kia Forte will have a highly advanced touch-screen infotainment system. The system stretches eight inches across in standard models, along with 10.25 inch available options. This infotainment offers both Apple Carplay and Android Auto with bluetooth connectivity, making it perfect for any driver’s needs. Other notable technology features include rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, highway driving assist, lane departure warning, among many others. Drivers will also love the remarkable fuel economy, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, and sunroof.

Kia Stars In Electrify Expo 2022

North America’s largest Electric vehicle festival, the Electrify Expo, has begun! Fun for all ages and interests, the Electrify Expo is a weekend festival that lets you ride, drive, and demo the World’s Top Electric Vehicles, E-Motorcycles, E-Bikes, E-Scooters, E-Skateboards, and more. The series of 5 expo events kicked off in early June in Long Beach, but there are still three event weekends left.

The series continues August 27-28, 2022 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Coliseum. You can buy tickets starting at $20, kids 5 and under are free, and both days run from 10am-5pm with plenty to experience and do. Kia Ranked In Top 10 In The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

J.D. Power studies are in depth surveys given to new car owners that helps auto makers gauge what is working and what isn’t working for their models.

Kia once again proves to be one of the best auto manufacturers in the business (but we’re not surprised). Kia ranked in the top 10 of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey and the Kia Forte is the #3 compact car by J.D. Power for 2022. Kia is fully committed to putting out the best cars possible, and their efforts are getting recognition. Here at Lawton Kia, we are so proud to be a part of this achievement for Kia. Let’s take a closer look at how Kia achieved these statuses.

The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

For starters, let’s explain what the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey (IQS) is. The J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey is an annual survey that measures the satisfaction of new car owners. This year the survey was given to over 84,000 car buyers between the months of February and May. They base their satisfaction on the number of problems the cars experience within the first 90 days of ownership. This survey is a great predictor of the car’s long-time reliability.

This survey helps car makers and suppliers understand what customers need and how well they are meeting those needs. J.D. Power gets feedback on every significant vehicle on the auto market. Car makers use the feedback from the survey to measure and compare the car’s competitive performance. The feedback then goes through an analysis by plant, model, brand, corporation, and vehicle segment. All of these categories help give a full breakdown of the car and all of its pros and cons. The study inspects 223 problems and puts them in nine categories.

How Kia Ranked In The Top 10

Kia’s high ranking means that the quality of Kia’s cars consistently outranked hundreds of other vehicles on the market. However, this is not Kia’s first time in the top 10. For years, Kia has been at the top of the ranks for the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. Additionally, Kia accepted a J.D. Power Dependability Award. This award is achievable by brands who have the fewest problems reported by 100 car owners during the last 12-months with their 3-year-old vehicle. The rating focuses on the amount of problems and the type of problems experienced with their car. Kia being awarded these accolades is truly a testament to how dedicated they are to producing high quality vehicles. Kia Sells 10 Millionth Vehicle In USA

The well known and loved auto brand Kia has been producing vehicles since the 1950s, most of their focus on motorcycles and the Fiat 132 and Peugeot 604.
Filing for bankruptcy in the 1990s, Kia partnered with auto brand Hyundai, switching their focus to the European market, then back on the U.S. market in the 2000s.
In celebration of Kia selling 10 million vehicles JUST in the U.S., $10,000 will be donated to non-profits including St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association, and Freedom Service Dogs of America.

Kia started selling their vehicles in the United States in 1992. Now, they have one of the greatest auto industry success stories. The South Korean company recently celebrated its sale of their 10 millionth vehicle in the United States. Kia’s accomplishments are the result of delivering world-class quality, design and technology in every SUV, sedan, and electric vehicle. The 10 millionth vehicle, a “Runway Red” all-electric EV6 purchased by Monti Charoenphong at Car Pros Kia Moreno Valley in Moreno Valley, California. This in itself underlines Kia’s commitment to sustainable mobility leadership going forward. Who isn’t going green?

Kia’s Origin Story

According to the company, the name “Kia” derives from the Sino-Korean characters 起 (ki, ‘to arise’) and 亞 (a, which stands for 亞細亞아세아, meaning ‘Asia’); it means “Rising from Asia.”

Kia was founded on June 9, 1944, as Kyungsung Precision Industry. Originally a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts, eventually producing Korea’s first domestic bicycle, the Samchully, in 1951. Soon in 1952, the company changed their name to the Kia Industries we know today. Kia had a rocky start due to military dictators’ consolidating the automotive industry. The focus being on motorcycles and passenger vehicles, then solely focusing on light trucks.

Before the Shutdown

Prior to the forced 1981 shutdown, Kia had rounded out its passenger car lineup with two other foreign models. Those models being the Fiat 132 and the Peugeot 604. The import of these knock-down kits were permitted as long as Kia exported five cars for every single Fiat/Peugeot brought in.

Starting in 1986, only 26 cars were manufactured. However, the next year, the production was over 95,000. Kia rejoined the automobile industry in partnership with Ford. Kia produced several Mazda-derived vehicles for both domestic sales in South Korea and for export into other countries where they were positioned at the budget end of the market. In 1992, Kia Motors America goes to the United States. The first Kia-brand vehicles in the United States were available at four dealerships in Portland, Oregon, in 1992. Since then, Kia methodically expanded one region at a time. Dealers in 1994 sold the Sephia and a few years later the United States segment expanded their line with the Sportage.

Kia Goes Bankrupt

Kia declared bankruptcy in 1997 during the Asian financial crisis. Next, in 1998 they reached an agreement with Hyundai Motor Company to diversify by exchanging ownership between the two companies. Hyundai Motor Company acquired 51% of the company, outbidding Ford Motor Company. Since 2005, Kia has focused on the European market and has identified design as its “core future growth engine”. However, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia in West Point opened in February 2010 after Kia recorded its 15th consecutive year of increased U.S. market share.In August 2014, the company received international attention. Pope Francis of the Catholic Church rode in one of their compact cars, the Kia Soul, during a five-day visit to South Korea. In 2016, Kia Motors model reliability came in first in the United States by J.D. Power and Associates, becoming the first non-luxury automaker since 1989 to top that list.

What’s new with Kia? We’ll tell you what’s new–they unveiled details about the 2023 Kia Soul and we’re here to tell the scoop! The iconic Kia Soul has been available since the 2009-2010 era, and the newly announced 2023 Soul model is aimed towards a more simplistic model makeup of the original. There are promises for an exterior facelift, dropping the turbocharged engine option, and more. The 2023 Kia Soul release date is set to be at the end of Summer of 2022 starting off at what we’re guessing will be no more than the previous Turbo trim price that was just over $27,000. The actual price will be released along with other specific details closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date announcement. But for now, let’s talk about what we do know about this bold new 2023 Kia Soul model.

2023 Kia Soul Exterior

The overall new 2023 Kia Soul model will still maintain the definition of Kia’s small and fun car, but it is getting a facelift on all sides of the exterior including a sleek new grille, new daytime running lamps as well as new turn signals. The exterior rear upgrades include new taillights and new 17- and 18-inch wheel designs. Aside from the typical upgrades like the ones we just mentioned, Kia is setting themselves apart yet again by offering two new, bold, two-tone color options in the colors clear white and/or surf blue, both with a contrasting fusion black roof. We’re getting summer year-round, fruity, sleek, one-of-a-kind vibes. Every car might have shiny new lamps and turn signals, but we guarantee that none of them will have bolder colors than the Kia Soul 2023.

2023 Kia Soul Interior

The interior doesn’t have as many new updates, but Kia automakers did achieve the high demand for upgraded technology within vehicles of all brands. The interior will keep the much-loved and familiar features, like heated front seats, wireless phone charger, automatic headlights, etc. But there will also be some new updates to die for, specifically speaking about the technology aspect. There will be a new 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment screen which is available in all trims except the base LX model. There will also be a Harman Kardon sound system, a navigation based smart cruise control, ford collision avoidance, and more. The Kia Soul has been around for 10+ years yet they are still providing us with pleasant surprises.

Under The Hood

The Kia Soul is ditching the turbocharged engine and replacing it with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder. This engine generates 147 hp and 132 lb.-ft of torque. This might be a big disappointment to some of Kia’s loyal customers, but Kia will not let it go in vain. They have made sure to replace things that they are getting rid of with new and improved updates. S else that won’t be available is an all-wheel drive system. But, to make up for it, all 2023 Kia Soul models will be have front-wheel drive. Kia has raised the bar as far as safety features making it a standard for all trims. The safety features include high-beam assist, driver attention warning, lane departure warning, rear occupant alert, and forward collision-avoidance assist-pedestrian.
