For over the past 10 years, South Korean car manufacturer, Kia, has opted-out of providing engine immobilization systems within their vehicles. Engine immobilization systems verify the legitimacy of the key that is inserted. If the key is not verified, then the engine will not start. This type of system has the specific intention to stop car thefts, or at least reduce it. This became such an issue, that some insurance agencies stopped providing coverage on a few Kia models! But don’t worry! As of last year, all newly produced Kia models have the engine immobilization systems along with some additional theft-deterring precautions. 

Kia System Updates 

Kia auto theft deterrent software is offered free to millions of its drivers and vehicles as a software update. This update provides a better alarm software logic which prolongs the amount of time the alarm goes off. It will extend the alarm life from 30 seconds to a full minute, as well as require the key to be in the ignition to be started. Kia is also sending out mass amounts of anti-theft car stickers to alert probable thieves about the updated protection systems and deter them. 

Beware of Recent Social Media Kia Theft Trends

Although new Kia models have the technology that’s necessary to deter thieves, social media trends are still at large. There is a trend following the “Kia Boyz” has videos online depicting the accessibility and simplicity of breaking into a Kia, popping off the key ignition underneath the steering wheel and using a tool to start the vehicle without the needed key as well as a USB to hot-wire the car. 

This social media trend has caused a major surge in car theft percentages around the United States and an increase in notice by public officials. The thieves seem to continue to be teenagers, some not even old enough to drive, yet still stealing, driving vehicles, and posting the video to social media. The Kia Stinger, like its previous predecessors, originated in 2018. Now, only 5 years into its production, the autobrand has announced that this is the Stinger’s final year. It’s not all bad news, though. In honor of the Kia Stinger and all its glory, Kia has a special lineup in store for 2023. Kia is rolling out special editions for both the GT-Line and GT2 vehicles. The GT-Line Apex Special Edition and the GT2 Grand Tourer Special Edition. To take the Kia Stinger GT finale to the next level, only 1000 units worldwide will be produced in Ascot Green finish. 2023 Stinger Models

With a lineup consisting of the GT-Line and the GT2, consumers are able to pick between two stellar models. Both models come with specialized packages and choice colors.

2023 Kia Stinger GT2

The 2023 Kia Stinger GT2 comes with a 3.3L twin turbo V6 engine, producing 368 horsepower, allowing a 0-60 mph speed of 4.6 seconds. Being an upgrade from the Stinger GT-Line, the GT2 creates a persona around the competing Stinger car that consumers desire. Averaging 18 mpg within the city and 25 mpg on the highway, the GT2 comes in slightly lower than the GT-Line V4. This allows for consistent riding and distant traveling. A styling refresh isn’t the only thing that’s boosting the Telluride’s popularity. Exterior

The exterior design of the 2023 Telluride remains mostly the same as last year’s model, with the exception of vertical headlights with LED bulbs as well as available fog lamps. It also got an upgrade in tail lights, a new grille, a rear facia rework, new bumpers, new wheel designs for every trim, and a revised lower door takes the cake. The exterior comes in 3 beautiful colors which are Midnight Lake Blue, Dawning Red, and Jungle Wood Green. We’ll take one each please! 

2023 Telluride Performance

While the powertrains are being carried over from previous years, the 3.8-liter V6 GDI engine is still impressive. It puts out a whopping 291 horsepower, and 262 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel-drive is an option that’s available on all models except the two new trims, in which case, those trims come standard, otherwise you’re looking at having an eight-speed automatic transmission. 

Technology and safety features

The 2023 Kia Telluride gets the auto brand’s latest dual 12.3-inch display screens sitting at the center of the gauge cluster and infotainment system (which is also an optional feature). The Kia Connect feature also introduces navigational features that include real-time and predicted road information so that you’re aware of unexpected road closures, wrecks, etc. The Telluride received a few new safety feature upgrades including forward collision avoidance-junction turning which is standard for all models. The safety features that are at play in the Telluride aim to prevent accidents by providing max awareness and visibility.

The 2023 Kia Telluride Price starts at $37,025 and the prices go up from there. The two new trims are the X-Line, starting at $46,820, and the X-Pro, starting at $51,220,  which add a spiciness to the Telluride. There’s no better time than now to switch over to a more green means of transportation. The 2023 Kia Niro EV delivers an astounding EPA-estimated 253-mile all-electric range so drivers won’t have to worry about charging up on a longer drive. Additionally when this sustainable crossover is powered by its all-electric powertrain, it doesn’t produce any emissions at all. To top all of this off, the Nero EV’s performance is certainly well-above its competitors and its price tag is well below!

Exterior and Price

Based on Kia’s K3 architecture, the Niro has been given a futuristic two-box design, accompanied by its distinguishable D-pillar which will be available in an array of contrasting colors. It is also slightly longer than other comparable electric crossovers, at 174.0 inches and slighting shorter, at 61.8 inches. 

The Niro EV will have two different trim levels to choose from, the more affordable base Wind trim level, and the more expensive loaded Wave version. It is estimated that these trims will range from $33,000 to $40,000 which makes the Niro EV appear extremely inexpensive compared to other small, electric crossovers in its class. 

Engine and Handle

Both versions of the 2023 Niro EV will receive the same 201-hp electric motor coupled with 188 lb-ft of torque. That being said, its acceleration isn’t lacking by any means. Car and Driver took the Niro for a test drive where they reached 60 mph in an impressive 6.7 seconds. Of course it’s no sports car, but as for 0-60 EV standards, the Niro is doing just fine. 

Whether you’re in normal, sport, or eco mode the Niro EV handles beautifully as well. You can feel confident cutting corners, fitting into tight parking spaces, and cruising down winding roads. When it comes to braking, the Niro goes from 70-0 in just 182 feet. With this feature, drivers can feel rest assured about this crossovers braking capability. Much of the Niro EV’s fantastic handling can be accredited to its low center of gravity. The Niro EV never fails to provide drivers with a pleasant experience.

The Charge and Range

Although the extensive all-electric range feels as if it lasts forever, you’ll eventually have to plug in your Niro EV . After drivers have surpassed the EPA estimated 253-mile all-electric range, they can rely on Level 2 hookups. Kia has promised that you can take this sleek crossover from 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes by plugging it into a DC fast-charger. As a bonus, Kia is providing 500 kWh of zero-cost charging through Electrify America that provides nearly 2,000 free miles. 

Interior and Tech

The 2023 Niro EV takes sustainability to the next level. The incorporation of a headliner that’s made from recycled wallpaper and seats with fabric partially constructed from eucalyptus make this vehicle unique. Additionally, besides the Niro’s eco-friendly interior design, drivers and front-seat passengers will appreciate the massive, spacious cabin. Don’t worry backseat riders, there is plenty of headroom and legroom to kick back and relax on a long drive. 

The Niro EV also has all the tech anyone could ask for, and more! Once behind the wheel, drivers will notice a large digital panel with three different gauge looks paired with drive modes. Furthermore, a user-friendly infotainment system can be found in the front and center of the cabin. Lastly, the Niro’s Onboard Power Generator has the ability to charge laptops, electric bikes, camping equipment, and more.

The well-known auto brand, Kia, revealed the 2023 Kia EV6 GT performance crossover for the first time at a Motorsports Gathering, The Quail, and boy was it shocking–in a good way! Kia vehicles are not typically sought after for their speed, but the mere presence of the 2023 EV6 took the  center of attention with 576-hp, being the fastest and most sophisticated among all the players. The arrival of the 2023 Kia EV6 is becoming known as the most powerful Kia production yet. This marks a new era for the Kia electrification brand. Talk about having an element of surprise! 2023 Kia EV6 in a Nutshell

The 2023 Kia EV6 is part of Kia’s “Plan S” strategy. This strategy launches at least 2 battery-electric vehicles (BEV) per year. The “Plan S” strategy is also to build a full line-up of 14 BEV’s by 2027. The 2023 Kia EV6 showcases the multi-charging system that supports 400v and 800v charging, working on DC chargers with speeds between 50kW to 350kW. The innovative functionality makes the EV6 a power house on wheels, supporting everything from home improvement projects to camping and tailgating. Its electricity flows from the high-energy battery to an Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) which provides a whopping 1,900 watts of power to the electric appliances, devices, tools, and recreational equipment. Need we say more?

2023 Kia EV6 Design

The exterior of the 2023 Kia EV6 has subtle interior and exterior features that flourish. An emphasis on the vehicle’s width, and a rear aero spoiler is unique to this model. The styling and design of the 2023 EV6 is a worldwide collaboration. This collaboration was inspired by a design philosophy, “Opposites United”. This philosophy fuses cues and inspiration from contrasts that you can find in everyday life. A long-wheelbase and short overhangs is what maximizes the interior space with a flat floor. Under the floor, a battery placement enables a low center of gravity for ultimate stability. Premium EV6 touches are all throughout the cabin. This includes neon accents, front lightweight bucket seats, and a striped motif that’s on the upper dashboard and on the front center armrest. Ambient lighting is also featured across the door panels, center console, and dashboard which delivers a soothing glow.  

New Levels of Electric Performance

The already potent EV6 lineup raises the threshold of performance even further with the 2023 EV6.  It has a dual-motor e-AWD powertrain that sends power to all four wheels. It also has an energy-dense 77.4-kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (80/10/10) battery that serves a front-mounted 160kW motor. It’s combined with a rear-mounted 270kW motor that produces a power output of 430 kW (576hp) and 546lb.-ft. of torque. The 2023 Kia EV6 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds with top speeds rising to 161 mpg.

To put it more into perspective for you, the 2023 Kia EV6 out-accelerated a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD. The performance upgrades also include defining dedicated sport suspension with electronically controlled dampers and unique front suspension components. Its traction and stability are enhanced by electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) when turning those corners. This is possible by directing torque to the wheels that have the most grip.

The 2022 Kia Forte Legacy

The evolution of the Kia Forte design has taken flight in an unprecedented way just over the course of the last few years. Beginning in 2019, Kia introduced an entirely new design to the interior and exterior of its beloved Forte, giving it a more sleek look while simultaneously adding more cargo and back-row seating space. Furthermore, Kia also decided to upgrade the technology of the 2019 Kia Forte model cars with the addition of more driver-assistance features and a touch-screen infotainment system. Moving into 2020, Kia introduced the GT and GT-lined trims of their Forte, and the 2022 Kia Forte received an overhaul to the exterior once again while adding even more advanced tech. 

2023 Kia Forte Trims

As for the 2023 Forte model cars, you can count on all of the features we love about the previous models, along with some major advances to the trim lineup. The Forte will come with five trim options, including the introduction of the GT Manual along with a change of name for the entry level FE, now known as the LX model. So, with these changes, you will now be able to choose from the LX, LXS, GT-Line, GT or GT Manual trims.

Kia Forte GT Mechanics

There will continue to be the same top of the line mechanics in the 2023 Forte models. All of the trims will come with front-wheel drive. However, the LX, LXS, and GT-Line trims, they will have a 147-horsepower four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The GT model will have a 201-horsepower turbo-four and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The GT Manual will have the same turbo-four paired with a six speed manual. 

2023 Kia Forte Interior

The 2023 Kia Forte’s interior has been praised for its luxurious look and feel. You can expect to see some improvement in the quality of the interior across all trims. The LX will come with cloth upholstery and it will have an option to add auto-dimming rearview mirror and a universal garage door opener for a small additional charge. While the LXS will gain split-folding rear seating and soft-touch interior surfaces. As for the GT-Line, it will have sports seating accompanied by synthetic leather inserts and a leather steering wheel. The GT trim will have the option to add full synthetic upholstery. In the GT Manual you can find the same synthetic upholstery as well. Across all trims, you can expect a very spacious and high-quality cabin along with a large trunk. This compact car is undoubtedly big enough to fit the whole family!

Technology 

The 2023 Kia Forte will have a highly advanced touch-screen infotainment system. The system stretches eight inches across in standard models, along with 10.25 inch available options. This infotainment offers both Apple Carplay and Android Auto with bluetooth connectivity, making it perfect for any driver’s needs. Other notable technology features include rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, highway driving assist, lane departure warning, among many others. Drivers will also love the remarkable fuel economy, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, and sunroof.

Although there is some slight variation in the price of the 2023 Kia Forte depending on the trim level it is still affordable compared to competitors.  The base LX model is the most inexpensive model option with prices starting around $19,490,. North America’s largest Electric vehicle festival, the Electrify Expo, has begun! Fun for all ages and interests, the Electrify Expo is a weekend festival that lets you ride, drive, and demo the World’s Top Electric Vehicles, E-Motorcycles, E-Bikes, E-Scooters, E-Skateboards, and more. The series of 5 expo events kicked off in early June in Long Beach, but there are still three event weekends left.

The series continues August 27-28, 2022 in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Coliseum. You can buy tickets starting at $20, kids 5 and under are free, and both days run from 10am-5pm with plenty to experience and do. Kia stars in Electrify Expo 2022 and you could be a part of an electric vehicle, and Kia, history–how cool is that?! The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

For starters, let’s explain what the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey (IQS) is. The J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey is an annual survey that measures the satisfaction of new car owners. This year the survey was given to over 84,000 car buyers between the months of February and May. They base their satisfaction on the number of problems the cars experience within the first 90 days of ownership. This survey is a great predictor of the car’s long-time reliability.

This survey helps car makers and suppliers understand what customers need and how well they are meeting those needs. J.D. Power gets feedback on every significant vehicle on the auto market. Car makers use the feedback from the survey to measure and compare the car’s competitive performance. The feedback then goes through an analysis by plant, model, brand, corporation, and vehicle segment.  All of these categories help give a full breakdown of the car and all of its pros and cons. The study inspects 223 problems and puts them in nine categories.

How Kia Ranked In The Top 10
